Morning Market Report. October 10, 2026.

The crypto market is holding broadly flat with low volatility, though the overall mood leans cautious as total market cap slipped 2% over the past 24 hours despite modest price gains in the majors.

BTC sits at $82,575, up 0.6% on the day. About 60% of leveraged traders are positioned for further upside, and the fee those optimists pay to hold their bets overnight stands at a moderate 2.3% annualised, nothing alarming. In the past hour, long-side forced closures outpaced short-side ones significantly ($118k vs $14k), meaning some bullish leveraged positions were flushed out. ETF flows remain a watch point: Bitcoin ETFs have seen money leave for three consecutive days, totalling roughly $409 million out over the past week.

ETH trades at $2,491, essentially unchanged at plus 0.1%. The crowd skews heavily long at 75%, one of the more stretched readings across the board today. Notably, short-side forced closures dominated in the last hour ($55k vs $10k), suggesting some traders betting against ETH got squeezed rather than bulls.

XRP gained 1% to $1.4053 and is the day's relative outperformer. With 70.5% of the crowd long but the overnight fee for those bets actually slightly negative (shorts are paying longs a small amount to hold positions), there is no overheating signal from leverage at this moment. Long-side forced closures are occurring, meaning some bullish leveraged XRP bets are being closed by force.

SOL is the only major in the red, down 0.5% to $109.74. The crowd is equally skewed long at 70.5%, but the overnight fee for bullish bets sits at a notably elevated 5.1% annualised, the highest among today's majors. Like XRP, long-side forced closures are the dominant event, pointing to leveraged bulls being shaken out on a down day.

Broader picture. The fear and greed index reads 64, firmly in Greed territory, yet the market regime signals a risk-off, flat-trend environment across a wide range of assets, a split worth noting. Stock market volatility (VIX at 14.8) remains low, so the caution is crypto-specific rather than a broad macro panic. BTC dominance at 59.1% shows Bitcoin continuing to command a large share of total market value. Over the full 24-hour window, forced closures hit short-sellers harder than long-holders in dollar terms ($96m vs $59m), which is worth keeping in mind when reading the cautious regime signal.

What to watch today. Whether ETF outflows continue for a fourth consecutive day will matter for BTC sentiment. SOL's elevated cost for bullish leveraged bets is worth monitoring, as sustained high fees there tend to pressure those positions over time. ETH's heavily one-sided crowd positioning (75% long) means any sharp move could amplify quickly. Finally, the overheat scores for BTC and ETH (0.39 and 0.34 on a 0-to-1 scale) are figures we are tracking as a measurement exercise only, not as a confirmed edge or signal, so treat them as background context rather than a directional read.
