Morning Market Report. Charlie Platform. September 22, 2026.

Monday opens with broad-based crypto gains, led by XRP jumping over 7% and BTC pushing past $85,700, while the overall crypto market cap climbed to $2.92 trillion.

BTC sits at $85,699, up 5.4% in 24 hours. Fewer than half of leveraged traders (46%) are positioned for further upside, which is a relatively cautious crowd reading for a day this green. The fee that traders betting on continued rises must pay to hold their positions runs at an annualized 9.6%, moderate by recent standards. In the past hour, short-side positions worth roughly $567K were forcibly closed, compared to just $122K on the long side, meaning downside bets took the bigger hit.

ETH trades at $2,741, up 3%. The crowd is considerably more bullish here, with nearly 70% of leveraged positions leaning long. That fee for holding long bets runs at 9.9% annualized. Notably, over $1 million in long positions were liquidated in just the past hour on ETH, a sizable number worth watching as it suggests some longs got caught offside on a short dip.

XRP at $1.517 leads the session with a 7.2% gain. Crowd positioning mirrors ETH at 69% long, and the carry fee for long holders is the highest of the group at 11% annualized. Short-side liquidations of $71K in the past hour outpaced long closures of $15K, consistent with the upward price move.

SOL at $116.71, up 4.9%, is the one coin where fresh downside leverage is visibly building, meaning new traders are opening bets that SOL will fall from here. At the same time, over $926K in long positions were forcibly closed in the past hour, the largest long liquidation figure across all four coins this morning. The 11% annualized fee for long holders adds extra pressure on anyone holding leveraged upside exposure in SOL.

Flows and sentiment paint a picture of genuine demand behind the move. Bitcoin spot ETFs recorded $617.6 million in net inflows on the last trading day, and the 7-day running total sits at $610.5 million, now three consecutive days of inflows. The Fear and Greed Index reads 78, firmly in Extreme Greed territory. The broader market alarm system is calm, with low systemic pressure across the board. Traditional market volatility, measured by the VIX, is quiet at 14.87, suggesting no macro shock is driving the move.

Context note. The market regime is classified as a strong uptrend with choppy conditions and extreme volatility alongside mixed participation across smaller coins. BTC dominance holds near 58.9%, meaning Bitcoin is absorbing a large share of total market capital. We also measure internal heat scores for BTC and ETH at 0.69 and 0.70 respectively on a 0 to 1 scale. These are readings we track to get a sense of positioning stretch, but they carry no verified predictive edge at this stage, so we present them as observation only.

What to watch today. The contrast between SOL's growing base of short-side bets and its heavy long liquidations in the same hour is worth monitoring as the session develops. ETH's $1 million-plus long liquidation figure in a single hour is also worth keeping an eye on, to see whether it was a brief flush or the start of heavier unwinding. Given Extreme Greed readings and elevated carry fees across the board, any sudden reversal in ETF flow headlines could shift the mood quickly.
