Morning Market Report. Sunday, October 11 2026.

Markets are holding their ground after a quiet night, with Bitcoin edging up half a percent and the broader picture best described as a slow, choppy bull market going nowhere fast.

Bitcoin sits at $83,009, up 0.5% over the last 24 hours. A slight majority of leveraged traders (59.7%) are positioned for a rise, yet the fee that traders betting on growth must pay to stay in their positions is actually negative at -2.4% annualized. That means the market is, somewhat unusually, charging the bulls less than it charges the bears right now. Leverage overall is quiet and not building up in either direction. In the past hour, short-side forced closures ($63,199) far outpaced long-side closures ($2,324), meaning a small number of bets against Bitcoin were forcibly shut down.

Ethereum trades at $2,508, up 0.65%. Three quarters of leveraged traders are positioned long, which is a notably crowded stance. The growth-bet fee is deeply negative at -11.5% annualized, a level worth watching as it can reflect an unusual imbalance in how the futures market is structured right now.

XRP slipped 0.55% to $1.3983. Crowd positioning is heavily long at 70.4%, but here traders betting on growth are paying a positive fee of 5.9% annualized to maintain their positions. Short-side forced closures dominated the last hour.

SOL is nearly flat at $109.84. Crowd sentiment is also heavily long at 70.9%, and growth-bet fees run at 7.2% annualized. Notably, it is the one coin in today's data where forced closures hit the long side harder than the short side in the past hour, $14,827 versus $3,665, suggesting some leveraged bullish positions were squeezed out overnight.

Flows and sentiment are mixed. The Fear and Greed index reads 61, in Greed territory, but not extreme. Bitcoin spot ETFs recorded a modest single-day inflow of $21.1 million yesterday, though the seven-day running total remains negative at $386.3 million in net outflows, meaning last week as a whole saw more money leave those vehicles than enter. Total crypto market cap sits at $2.82 trillion, down 2.3% over 24 hours, while Bitcoin's share of that total has climbed to 59.1%, a sign that capital continues to concentrate in Bitcoin relative to the rest of the market.

Traditional market volatility, measured by the VIX index on U.S. equities, is calm at 14.84. Over the full past 24 hours, forced closures across the market hit both sides, $25.9 million on the long side and $39.9 million on the short side, with shorts taking the larger hit overall.

Things to watch today. The seven-day ETF outflow trend is worth tracking to see whether yesterday's inflow marks a turning point or a single blip. The very crowded long positioning in ETH and SOL, combined with positive growth-bet fees in SOL and XRP, means those coins carry more built-in pressure if price moves against the crowd. The overheat scores for BTC (0.4) and ETH (0.33) are figures we are measuring for reference only and carry no confirmed predictive weight at this stage. Overall system alarms are quiet, and no unusual pressure is detected in the market structure right now.

  • XRP Ledger fixed a bug that could have minted XRP from nothing

A flaw in the XRP Ledger's built in exchange, likely dating to 2015, could have let an attacker create new XRP and break the fixed supply of 100 billion tokens. RippleX fixed it in the xrpld 3.4.1 release on Sept. 25 and says it found no sign of exploitation on public networks.
