Morning Market Report. September 25, 2026.

The overall crypto market is drifting slightly lower this morning, with the total market cap down about 2.3% over the past 24 hours, though individual coins are telling different stories.

Bitcoin sits at $84,207, essentially flat on the day (down 0.2%). Leverage on BTC is quiet and not building in any meaningful direction, which limits the risk of a sudden violent move driven purely by forced closures. In the last hour, short-side bets have been closed out more forcefully than long-side ones ($1.19M vs. $534K), meaning people betting on a drop had a rougher time recently. Over the past 24 hours, $80M worth of BTC long positions were forcibly closed across the market, a number worth keeping in mind. The fee that traders pay to hold bullish leveraged bets sits at 2.9% annualized, a moderate level.

Ethereum is at $2,674, down 0.43%, but its picture is more notable. A very high 72.8% of the crowd is positioned for a rise, and the fee paid by those bullish leveraged bettors has climbed to 6.6% annualized, noticeably above Bitcoin's. Over $43M in ETH long positions were forcibly closed in the past 24 hours. In the last hour, long-side closures ($945K) greatly outpaced short-side ones ($249K), meaning upside bets are under more immediate stress right now.

XRP is the standout mover, up 1.46% to $1.5267. However, the fee paid by those betting on further gains has surged to 10.2% annualized, the highest among the four coins today, and the leverage data shows forced closures are actively hitting the bullish side. In the last hour, $439K in long bets were forcibly closed versus just $25K on the short side. The crowd is 71.3% positioned for a rise, which alongside those high fees means the cost of maintaining bullish bets here is elevated.

Solana is up 1.33% to $116.88, with leverage calm and the last hour showing a fairly balanced picture between forced long and short closures ($293K vs. $334K).

On the sentiment and flow side, the Fear and Greed Index reads 71, firmly in "Greed" territory. US spot Bitcoin ETFs have recorded six consecutive days of net inflows, with $28.1M flowing in yesterday and over $2.38B over the past seven days, showing sustained institutional interest. BTC's share of the total crypto market sits at 58.6%, a relatively high level. Stock market volatility, measured by the VIX, is calm at 15.67.

We are also measuring an internal warmth score for BTC and ETH (this is a tool we track for our own reference, not a directional signal): both score 0.8 out of a possible range, which simply means we are watching both for signs of overextension.

Today, the key things to watch are whether ETH's crowded bullish positioning continues to face pressure from forced closures, whether XRP's elevated bullish-bet fees start drawing that position down further, and whether the six-day ETF inflow streak continues or breaks.
